Description
In Lebanon,
the project coordinated by IndyAct aims to implement a national consultation in
partnership with the Ministry of Environment and the University of Balamand
that will engage experts, civil society, and other relevant stakeholders in
forming a national monk seal coalition. Interested organization will develop a
national Monk Seal Action Plan (MSAP) to be adopted formally by the government.
Roles and responsibilities will be distributed and parties will be trained on
how to implement the action plan.
Collaboration
with the Ministry of Environment will lead to drafting required policies,
legislations, and decisions to ensure the regulatory framework is robust and
adequate.
In parallel,
a pilot project will be developed in the Palm Islands Nature Reserve to secure
the best conditions for the species. Threats
will be identify and mitigated, stakeholders’ awareness will be raised.
Throughout
the project, IndyACT will conduct a national communication campaign on monk
seal conservation to increase public awareness on the need to protect the
species and its habitat.Au Liban, le projet coordonné par IndyAct vise à mettre en œuvre une consultation nationale en partenariat avec le ministère de l'Environnement et l'Université de Balamand, qui impliquera des experts, la société civile et d'autres parties prenantes concernées dans la formation d'une coalition nationale pour le phoque moine. L'organisation intéressée développera un plan d'action national pour le phoque moine (MSAP) qui sera adopté officiellement par le gouvernement. Les rôles et les responsabilités seront répartis et les parties seront formées à la mise en œuvre du plan d'action.
La collaboration avec le ministère de l'environnement permettra de rédiger les politiques, législations et décisions nécessaires pour garantir un cadre réglementaire solide et adéquat.
Parallèlement, un projet pilote sera développé dans la réserve naturelle des îles Palm afin de garantir les meilleures conditions pour l'espèce. Les menaces seront identifiées et atténuées, et les parties prenantes seront sensibilisées.
Tout au long du projet, IndyACT mènera une campagne de communication nationale sur la conservation du phoque moine afin de sensibiliser le public à la nécessité de protéger l'espèce et son habitat.
