Description
This project, led by Delphis, seeks to address the critical lack of suitable habitats for these endangered marine mammals and foster a new generation of conservationists through an integrated educational program. Since 2010, over 100 sightings of Mediterranean monk seals have been recorded along the Israeli coastline.
Despite these frequent visits, the seals do not remain in the area due to the absence of appropriate cave habitats. In response, the project aims to create protected spaces for the seals, combining habitat restoration—both natural and artificial—with comprehensive educational activities designed to raise awareness and encourage proactive behavior in seal conservation.
The Monk Seal Alliance’s support will provide funding for the educational components of the project.
